2009年(nian)以(yi)來(lai),一(yi)台(tai)氫(qing)燃(ran)料(liao)電(dian)池(chi)街(jie)道(dao)清(qing)掃(sao)車(che)一(yi)直(zhi)在(zai)巴(ba)塞(sai)爾(er)街(jie)道(dao)上(shang)進(jin)行(xing)測(ce)試(shi)。該(gai)項(xiang)目(mu)旨(zhi)在(zai)將(jiang)氫(qing)能(neng)驅(qu)動(dong)技(ji)術(shu)帶(dai)出(chu)實(shi)驗(yan)室(shi)並(bing)積(ji)累(lei)實(shi)地(di)條(tiao)件(jian)下(xia)運(yun)行(xing)的(de)經(jing)驗(yan)。初(chu)步(bu)試(shi)驗(yan)的(de)結(jie)果(guo)是(shi):氫氣作為市政公用車輛的燃料,節能又環保,在技術上具備實用性。然而為提高其性價比,燃料電池、高壓儲氫罐和電驅動器的成本都有待大幅降低。
該車的開發曆時18個月,於2009年在巴塞爾投入試運行。起初專門為這個項目設計的燃料電池係統,很快被發現不適宜實際運行條件下的使用;除此之外,多種多樣的安全保障係統彼此互相幹擾,一度使項目進度陷於停滯。
